Don’t Rock the Boat, 2018, Day 4

June 19, 2018
Venice

This morning Randy woke up and went to the groceries for breakfast. I stepped out of the shower with a bowl of muesli, chocolate croissants, cherries, orange juice, and milk.

Then we went to one of the vaporetto stations and bought each of us. Then we boarded one of the boats to go to Murano. Murano is one of the islands of Venice that is well-known for glass products. We walk around, looking in the galleries, jewelry stores, and gift shops. Joshua bought one of the jewelery jewelry, while I buy Murano glass from one of the jewelry stores.

Next we went to the island of Burano, which is used for lace and textiles, but is less so now. It is well known for having brightly colored houses. We enjoyed walking around. We looked at their bell tower (sorry, my pic did not turn out), but it is tilted-on the level of the Tower of Pisa. We even found a chart on a building near the tower of dates and how tilted it is. It's getting worse. There's a painting on the same building of a rome - we can see how well that worked out! We stopped for granites at a small shop.   She filled a blender pitcher with ice cubes, then added c               antaloupe, watermelon, kiwi, pineapple, and other fruits as well as a spoonful of sugar. Yum! Very refreshing! I wanted to buy a scarf I saw, but did not have time before catching our boat back.

After we returned to Venice, we rode to San Marco, then walked to Santa Maria della Salute (St. Mary of Health) -a basilica that Joshua wanted to see. It's just across the Grand Canal from St Mark's, and it's under construction. So after a circuitous route including a gelato on the way, we arrived about half an hour after it closed. So, after a rest, we took the bus back to our apartment and found a café for dinner.

After dinner, we went back to the bus and rode the Grand Canal in the dark. Very nice! In the middle of the boat, there is nothing in the middle of the boat.
