Sunnier Side of Brooklyn

April 4, 2020

Subway art--the cop has caught someone
crawling under the gate to get in!

Today Atlas and I slept in then met for lunch at the Mexican restaurant that her apartment is above in Brooklyn.  Then we went up so that I could see it and I met one of their new roommates.  It's a beautiful, sunny day!  Cold wind, but sunny and warmer (low 50s)

Me in front of a bunch of trees in bloom--we think they're cherry trees.

We sat and talked for a long time in their apartment, then walked to a bunch of thrift/vintage stores in their neighborhood (Crown Heights) and in Flatbush.  That was fun; I didn't find anything,  but Atlas found a few shirts and a pair of oxford shoes.

Cool row-house.  Gotta love the turret!

Then we went to a Cinema Cafe (Alamo Drafthouse Cinema--also in Brooklyn).    We saw "Everything Everywhere All at Once" and ordered dinner.  The food was good, though it was weird trying to eat it in the dark.  The movie was weird and hard to follow at times, but good in the end.

The walls of the cinema were covered in Arabic movie posters

Then Atlas went back to their apartment and I took the subway back to Manhattan and The Jane.  Tomorrow Atlas works, so it will just be me, though we have plans to meet for a drink when they are done at work.  I have a few ideas for tomorrow, but wandering is also fun!

More subway art; the character is collecting pennies and people have left a
pile of real pennies next to it.

Kind of a sad (but funny) advert in the subway.
