Iceland Day 5: water and sheep, sheep and water, that what fjords are made of!

Shelby told me we were taking our adventure in Oz (take a look at the license plate!)

Today we left our hostel, went to the grocery store, and headed west along the fjords of the Northern edge of Iceland.  We stopped occasionally to look at the view.  It became much more green, the closer you were to the water.  In some places we could see the Arctic Ocean.  In all areas, you could see sheep, many of them on the road.

In Hosfos, we went swimming.  They have an infinity pool looking over the fjord and the Arctic Ocean.  It is heated with geothermal water.  You change in a changing room then walk outside in the 40 degree air to the pool.  It is very nice and warm.

We went through several tunnels through the mountains today.  A few of them were two lanes (like the road), but several were two directions of traffic with one lane in the tunnel.  The westbound side had pullouts on the right to pull over if a vehicle was coming toward you.  Very freaky!!

Our hostel is in a  tiny hamlet on a fjord (what else!).  It used to be a school, but closed when there were no more children in the area.  How sad.  So, now it's a hostel.  After we made and ate a dinner of pasta and fresh fruit,  we walked around outside.  We saw the island that has puffins, but didn't see any up close.  Arctic terns started squawking and diving at us when we strayed to close to where they have their nests.  And of course, next to the rocky beach, were more sheep.

This is what they're like after 5 days of togetherness!
