Day 12: Rainy Days and Wednesdays

June 27, 2018

Sibiu, Romania

The enticing entrance to a restaurant we did not eat at.

Wow, what a rainy day.  We slept in, then laid in bed reading for awhile.  Then showered and ate a very late breakfast and watched the rain out the windows.  We spent most of the day reading, online, and playing card games.

Around 5:00 it cleared up a bit, so we ventured out to find dinner and get cereal and milk for tomorrow's breakfast.  We found a cafe that had some good indoor seating, then walked around a bit.  By the time we got to the grocery store it was starting to sprinkle so we headed back to our apartment after getting our food.  It was sprinkling quite heavily by the time we arrived back.

We saw this group playing without an audience and in the light rain.

The is the Cathedral tower that we climbed yesterday.

This is the porch of the Cathedral.  I learned a lot about Cathedral porches reading Pillars of the Earth.  They were often gathering spaces for communities (kind of like our house porches today).

I met this handsome guy when we were out walking!

It was a relaxing day, but we had several things that we wanted to see to day that we will miss.   Tomorrow we drive to Cluj-Napoca (usually just call Cluj), they unofficial capital of the Transylvania region and the fourth largest city in Romania.
