Rainy Days and Sundays

 Sunday, April 3, 2020

I love that tower in the background!

Today Atlas and I met a little later at the Canal Street Market.  It was raining out, but I have a rain jacket and I'm loving the opportunity to walk everywhere!  So I walked the 40 minutes there and started dripping as I walked in and found a place to sit and wait for Atlas.  Part of the indoor market has a food court, but only two vendors were open, so I got a personal pizza (it was awful) and Atlas got an egg roll.  The rest of the market was filled with independent vendors with very unique items for sale.

My weird expression is because I'm laughing at Atlas!

We looked around for awhile, then took the subway to Atlas' favorite bookstore, Bluestocking Cooperative Bookstore.  We browsed for awhile, then sat down in their cafe area and talked for hours.  We talked so long that we missed going to the Merchant's House Museum.  Unfortunately, it isn't open again until Thursday, so that will have to go on my list of things for next time I'm in New York.

Then we took the train, me back to my hotel for our weekly FaceTime call with Joshua and Randy, and Atlas went to choir rehearsal for the choir that they are in.  After the call, I went to a local bistro--Corner Bistro--for dinner before coming back around 8 for a quiet night in.  Tomorrow we are planning to visit some vintage shops and see a movie in Brooklyn.

This is on Canal Street.  4 row houses amid tall, shiny office buildings.
It makes me think about what this area once looked like here, near to the
Hudson River.
