June 20: Today we were sad to leave the beautiful home in Boston where we had been privleged to stay for two days. It was wonderful to have a nice place to stay that wasn't a hotel, and nice to have conversation with other adults in the evenings--many thanks to Will and Sara for having us to stay, hopefully we didn't impose too much. Then we headed south. We switched drivers shortly before the Conneticut/New York border, having driven through Rhode Island and Conneticut after leaving Massachusetts.
The traffic in New York City was horrendous!! Lots of time spent sitting still in traffic and waiting in line to pay $7.50 to cross the bridge. Yuk. But eventually we got to Brooklyn and checked into the hotel. Then we walked to Lisa's house and had pizza with them, visited, and walked to get Italian Ices. Then we walked home to the hotel in the dark. At 9:30 there were still a lot of people out walking and talking with neighbors. At that time of night in Minneapolis, there wouldn't be many people walking around except downtown. We got to see how cute Liam and Evelyn are--they are both growing up so fast!! Liam seemed happy to have Joshua to play with and it was nice to see how Liam and Evelyn interact.
Back at the hotel, we had trouble getting online, but eventually got it worked out by calling the tech people for the wireless company they use.
Tomorrow we do a self-guided tour of NYC before exploring the wonders of Manhattan!
