Oregon

Today was a long time in the car.  We drove about 4 hours from near the Oregon/California border to the northern part of Oregon.  We are visiting friends of ours that live in Warrenton, near Seaside.  They are west of Portland--right on the ocean.  On the way, we stopped at the Multnomah Falls.  Actually, we passed some other falls first and a person pulled our from a parking spot right in front of us.  A sign there said 1/4 miles to Multnomah Falls.  Our car was stuck in a long line of cars looking for parking spots near Multnomah Falls, so the spot seemed pre-destined.  We pulled in and brought fruit with us and walked to the Falls.  Unfortunately, we had to walk on the road, which was one lane each way with no shoulder and narrowed in places.  So we walked with the cars in some places.  We had our snack, and walked up the path to the bridge around halfway up.  There was a placard about a boulder that fell from the top not that long ago and weighed the same as a bus.  It landed in the top pool and made enough of a splash to make a wave of water that splashed over the wedding party on the bridge (13 injuries).  Today, it was calm and pretty though.

Going back to the car, I suggested a walking path that went above the road.  It led .6 miles to another falls.

We then drove another 2 hours to Seaside.  Terry met us at the Home Depot to follow him to their house in case we didn't get cell service far enough for the GPS to get us to their house.   We have an entire floor with bedroom, 2 air mattresses, and bathroom.  Luxury!  Plus, we have friends to visit with which is wonderful!

  1. Visiting friends while also traveling is perhaps one of the best things in the world!
