Day 8: History with a side of travel

Today we started out at the Hong Kong Museum of History.  It starts 400,000,000 years ago and goes up through the 70s or 80s (we had to rush at the end).  Joshua found it online and wanted to see it because he is fascinated with the history of Hong Kong.  Well, he was fascinated at the museum too!  It is a great museum and you can spend a lot of time there.  We had to rush near the end because we had a plane to catch.  I would definitely recommend this if your are in Hong Kong.

The entry

Kind of cheesy, but the explanation of it was great!

The displays all show traditional life for many tribes of the region pre-1900

They had a whole area of traditional shops as well.  this is a food store

We went back and grabbed our bags, then left.  We were supposed to leave the keys inside.  There are two doors, kind of a grid door and the inside door.  Well, we let the outside grid door close without closing the inside door.  There is an umbrella kept in between the doors, so we pulled that out and used it to hook the top of the door.  We finally got it partially close when a woman approached.  She asked what we were doing and we told her.  She said not to worry, because she is a friend of Michelle (the owner), and to just leave it.  We did and texted Michelle.  It was fine, and we (I) also left a plastic bag with my liquid prescriptions in it on the bed.  Well, we got the text halfway to the airport (about an hour ride).  So I will have to do without for the rest of the trip and get refills when we get home.

Our tiny but central apartment

We ate at the airport--Chinese again.  We flew JetStar (a budget airline) to Singapore so there was absolutely no service--not even water.  Joshua asked for a glass of water and they took forever and then it was warm.  Joshua and I tried to fall asleep on the plane, but ended up dozing while laying our heads on each other.

The owner of our place met us at the train station near our apartment.  It is near the big buildings from the movie Crazy Rich Asians (love that movie!).  It has air conditioning!  And a washing machine (we are already washing clothes as I write this).  It has a living/dining room, a small but usable kitchen,  and a bedroom.  The bedroom has a double bed and a rollaway twin.  Joshua has elected to sleep on the couch so as to have a bit of privacy.  The bathroom alone is larger than the entire last apartment that we stayed in!

We are all exhausted, so we went out to find dinner (ate at a Turkish restaurant) and are checking our technology before bed.  So I'm going to add photos to this and publish, then off to bed (it IS 1:00 am here).
